2007 p71 scan tool will not communicate \\ connect when plugged into obd port.

Hello all ,

I have a quick question ! I recently purchased a 2007 P71 at auction, 119k miles and approx 2500 idle hrs. The car runs fine but check engine light came on. I plugged in my scan tool and it will not connect to car to retrieve a code. i thought something maybe wrong with scan tool so I connected to another of my vehicles and it links up just fine. checked all the fuses and they are fine. Any ideas or suggestions ?

The CEL may be due to the OBDII port not getting power, it seems like it's happening to alot of CVPI's.
If you have OBDII inspections in your state you will fail unless you find the problem.
You need a wiring diagram of the OBDII port to see if you've got power where it's supposed to be.
